Many people take business networking for granted. While some businesses do just fine without it, most of these businesses would flourish much better with it. Networking involves building contacts from all sorts of backgrounds. They may be able to help your business now, or maybe you’ll do business with them in the future, or maybe you’ll just need them for a small deal. Whatever the reason, it pays to network! Having this group is very useful.
1. Don’t Discriminate
The number one tip to networking is not to discriminate. Don’t be rude or less than polite to a person just because you feel you’ll never need them. In the business world, you never know when you’ll need to contact people from all walks of life and from various businesses. So just make as many contacts as you can regardless of their job description.
If you’re a small business owner, you’re probably quite well aware of the traditional methods for networking and making business contacts. Seminars, conventions, and other types of industry gatherings are the traditional places, not to mention cooperative partnerships with like-minded businesses related to your niche. However, throughout the history of business, the most successful entrepreneurs have always gone beyond these conventional networking sources and made connections in often surprising places. To be a great networker, it has to be a lifestyle. It should be something that you do every day, sometimes in creative ways.
Many social networking sites have popped up recently. One in particular that caught my attention is Braveheart Women.
Braveheart Women is the creation of Dr. Ellie Drake. Her vision is to bring together women to support each other in creating purpose, passion and prosperity. The purpose of this site is to provide social networking for woman with a purpose. Ellie’s goal is to empower you to be empowered and to inspire you to be inspired. What distinguishes this site from all the others I participate in is that it regularly features interviews with a host of celebrity women.
